This film version is horrible when compared to the original. The film is very dark, while the London show was light and fun to watch. The song “When I grow up” was a show stopper on the stage. The kids singing while swinging on swings was so much fun to watch. In this film the kids don’t do much except sing it. Borrring.
2- The actress playing Matilda was very good, but wasted. People who liked this film couldn’t have seen the wonderful live show, or they wouldn’t have rated it higher than 3. It would have better they they just filmed the live London show like they did with Hamilton. I will not be showing this film to my granddaughter. I know she will hate it. I will wait until it is a live theatre near us.
